Cavallo Point just opened last month in the old military barracks buildings at Fort Baker. And they've done a lovely job renovating the place. We didn't see any of the rooms, but had a nice wander around the public areas. Besides Murray Circle, there is also a warm and inviting bar with a few low tables and lots of bar seating. And lots of comfortable seating along various verandas including some nice rocking chairs.
The restaurant had obstructed views of the GG Bridge, with warm wood tones and lots of fireplaces. The decor was inviting with banquettes along the walls and comfortable leather chairs. It was quite a large restaurant but was partitioned into three different areas, which maintained the sense of cosiness.
The brunch menu was not long, but hit all the key items. Among our party, we ordered the french toast, cornmeal pancakes, goat cheese quiche, steak and eggs (wagyu beef hash) and eggs benedict. The food was good with some elements reaching greatness, and the service was very friendly.
Overall, an excellent destination restaurant that really feels like a mini-getaway.
