Alexandria is beautiful and has a very different feel from Cairo - much more Mediterranean. The Four Seasons San Stefano here is less than a year old and is a gorgeous hotel. Much of the decor uses my favorite color combinations of blue and yellow, and the breakfast room was the prettiest I've ever seen, overlooking the Mediterranean.When we went out for dinner the first night, we had a tourist police escort who sat in the front seat of the van. We're still not quite sure why he was assigned to us, and the girls were quite confused. But he proved to be really useful in stopping traffic when we had to cross a busy 6 lane road. Please don't underestimate how important this was - you take your life into your hands when you try to cross roads here!
